Need a hand with Arboriculture Australia Reader? The most common questions are answered below. If you can't find what you need, email us at enquiries@trees.org.au and we'll get back to you.

Signing In

There's no password to remember. On the sign-in screen, enter your email address and we'll send you a six-digit code that's valid for 30 minutes. Enter the code on the next screen and you're in. If the code doesn't arrive within a minute or two, check your spam folder, then tap "Send code again" on the sign-in screen.

Sessions last up to a year on the iOS and Android apps, and up to 90 days in a browser. If you sign in on a new device and want to remove an old session, go to Account → Active devices and tap the sign-out icon next to the session you want to revoke.

Subscribing to Publications

Subscriptions are purchased on the website at reader.trees.org.au from any browser. You can subscribe to a full series (which gives you access to every publication in that series for the period paid) or to an individual title.

Once your subscription is active, sign in to the iOS or Android app with the same email — your library will be ready to read straight away.

Reading a Publication

Open any title from your library to start reading. Inside the reader:

  • Tap the right or left side of the page to turn pages.
  • Pinch to zoom; drag with one finger to pan when zoomed in.
  • Double-tap the centre of the page to return to the default zoom.
  • Tap the table-of-contents icon to jump to a chapter.
  • Tap the bookmark icon to save the current page.
  • Tap the pencil icon to add an annotation (freehand drawing, highlight, shape or text label).
  • Tap the notes icon to attach a private note to the current page.

Your bookmarks, notes and annotations sync across your phone, tablet and the web — sign in with the same email on any device to see them.

Reading Offline

You have three ways to download titles for offline reading:

  • First sign-in: the app asks whether you'd like to download all of your titles at once. Tap "Download all" and the library is cached in the background.
  • From the Account page: tap Download all titles any time to refresh or top up the cache (useful after a new publication is added to your library).
  • From the Library screen: tap the download icon on any individual title's cover to cache just that one.

Downloaded publications stay available until you delete them, uninstall the app, or sign out.

Managing Your Subscription and Billing

To update your card, view past invoices, or cancel a subscription, sign in to the website at reader.trees.org.au, open the Account page and tap Manage billing. That takes you to our payment provider (Stripe), where you can make changes securely.

Cancelling a subscription doesn't take effect immediately — you keep access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. After that, the subscription ends with no further charge.

Billing is handled through the website rather than the app, so this option isn't shown in the iOS or Android apps.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account in the app or on the website. You'll be asked to choose between:

  • Scheduled deletion — the deletion runs at the end of your current paid subscription period, so you keep access to what you've paid for until then.
  • Immediate deletion — the subscription is cancelled right away and your account is anonymised within seconds.

Either way, your bookmarks, notes and annotations are removed and your personal details are cleared from our database. Records required for Australian financial-record compliance are kept but are no longer linkable to you. See the Privacy Policy for the full retention rules.
